It is a valid consideration to look towards setting up a proactive plan, since an early warning...even though helpful(? Is it??), is still catastrophic.

As Earth reaches further into space as a people, All Planet supports proposed missions to develop and refine early diversion techniques and technologies.  Missions like this, and missions to the Moon and Mars, ISS (The International Space Station) are essential and critical to proceed.

 There is a Section of this recommended reading that analyses Near Earth Objects which have been observed over recent years to have come closer than two or four lunar distances of the Earth.
