Stanislav Ilyin was born on May
12, 1972 in the city of Kazan.
1983-1987 ? studies at the Childrenís
Art School in Kazan

Art College.
1991-1993 ? service in the Army.
1993-1999 ? studies at the Moscow
State Art Institute named after V. Surikov
in the studio of monumental art
under the guidance of Professor
E. N. Maximov.
Since 1999 ? member of the International
Union of Russian Artists.

Where were you born?
I was born in the city of Kazan
on May 12, 1972.
Where do you live presently?
Since 2000 I live in Moscow.
Please describe your artwork?
In my paintings I am trying to
depict the intimate, private life of a person. Also I like to contrast
the person with the architecture and the interior; also in my works I like
to compare plane surfaces to the three-dimensional subjects; to distinguish
foreground from perspective, to compare momentary and eternal.
What is your favorite technique?
In my work I use classical three-stage
technique of oil painting.
Which artistic medium is your favorite
to express yourself?
For me realism is the most appealing
art school, for it is boundless and versatile.
What event inspired you to become
a professional artist and at what age were you when that event occurred?
The first memorable impression
I got when I watched my father drawing animals. I remember my fascination
when I had been watching how different animals, planes and ships emerged
on the paper. His drawings of a little piglet were exceptionally
good, and at that time they seemed to be very real and alive. I was 4 years
old then, but I still can recall asking my father to draw a horse, or a
piglet or a crocodile.
What has been the luckiest thing
that has happened in your art career?
Discussions with my teacher Professor
I. Lubeynikov regarding monumental art made a lasting impression. His explanations
about the purport of monumental art, supported by picturesque descriptions
of modern works of art, were remarkably vivid, incisive and figurative.
One of the recent memorable impressions ? ìVenus of Urbinoî by Titian,
Uffizi, Florence, which was exhibited in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine
Arts.
Who has been the most influential
person in shaping your artwork?
Analyzing my inclinations in different
periods of my artistic development, I should mention Caravadgio, Bonnar
and Lubeynikov.
What is your favorite subject for
your work?
I like to depict and to show contrasts
between a person and the world around him, personís inner world and his
surroundings, interconnection of a person and the nature, architecture
and a person. I am trying to depict personal inner world of the people
as if it is watched secretly by someone else; other world, other life caught
by accident by someoneís glance. I am showing other life, which is continuously
flowing somewhere beside us, but in the triviality of everyday life, we
donít attach great importance to it. I want to depict a person very thoroughly,
with every detail. At the same time, I try to make my works, in spite of
their size, look monumental, so that one could feel that every minute of
a manís life is the greatest value. One of these fleeting moments
