___GO HOME___
___GO TO BORA BORA___

ORIGINAL
The original point was we would simply 'Take Over' Tina's and Paradis.  We are only about 2/3 there.  No one wanted to 'go to the public', and time has just flown by.  Here we are some 90 days from departure!!!!  It will soon be less than 100 days left before 2000.

COMPARATIVES   LOCAL HOTELS
Rooms at the closest hotel ( a 15 minute paddle away) is $2,000 to $4,000 per night.  They do figure double occupancy, just like we must, but it still averages well over $1,000 per night in this time period, with meal pensions between $70/$110 per person per day over the Holidays and the Millennium.
2, maybe three nights at one of these places costs more than OUR ENTIRE TRIP. AIR FARES and LODGING for 17 or 21 days!!!!!!!
The big resport are less ethnic and local than our places, but very, very beautiful.  I frequently walk from Tina's to the Bora Bora Hotel, and snorkel over the reef with the current, back towards 'home'.  Amazing.  You should plan to visit some resorts while on Bora Bora, New Years is going to be really.....festive, island style..  Both of our properties are MUCH more private than the hotels, and are private pensions, in my opinion, the 2 very best ones,
Tina's at Matira Point has the most beautiful beaches on the right and left, with many of the islands resorts situated between Tina's and Club Med, all within easy walking distance.

COMPARATIVES   AIRFARES
-additional data about recent air fare quotes, ALTHOUGH MOST FOLKS CANNOT QUOTE THESE DATES SINCE IT IS A SOLD OUT PERIOD FOR AIR AND HOTELS.

LOOK FORWARD
Many folks already going have expressed they seem to feel a remarkably high level of pleasant anticipation for this excursion to polynesia,.

Hi-
Got your FAX and the e-mail.  Thanks. The extra meal days on the MOTU (brkfst and dinner) are $45 per person.
>>What do you do when staying on the Motu for dinner??
* When we stay there, we eat there every night...however we LOVE fish and seafood.  She will be doing Tahitian style some nights, Franch Polynesian seafood most other nights, and chicken dishes as requested in advance.  Her menu is seasonal, and depends greatly on her husband and family gathering fish, lobsters, shrimp, Mahi Mahi etc. that day.  We have seen her hoard lobsters and giant prawns in a few large seawater traps for some days before having enough to serve.
* When eating in town- We eat rather like peasants, so judge us as you may, here is what we do-
Every day, have a standing order for several fresh baked baggettes.  We kept peanut butter, butter, jellies, Brie and Camenbert in one of those largish soft ice chests.  Take the boat to town (appx $5/pp, although some of the Motu Taxis can be $10/pp), hang out for a few hours, go european style with eating a hot lunch midday- Pizza, soups, Burgers, whatever, and have a picnic lunch on the motu that evening.

Please note: If 'When in rome, do as the Romans" has any interest at all- we visiting foreigners might keep in mind Tahitians traditionally went to sleep with the sun, and awoke with it.  I try to simply stay on California time when there, going to sleep by 9:00 PM (Midnight in Cal), and getting up at 5:00AM (8:00AM Cal).  It is so beautiful there, it makes sense.

With your permission,  will post this letter to the FAQ part of the site, since you are asking good questions.  I'll try to answer better there, but feel free to just call if you have some questions or suggestions.

>Dear Gabreal:
>
>Also this is to confirm the reservation for the Paradise bungalow
>Is it possible to leave the rest of the meal dates
>flexible until we get there or is that unreasonable for the proprietor?
--SURE, but she may be overbooked quickly.

>Could you give us an idea on how one gets around in Bora Bora between airport
---Included to Motu Paradis, or from.  Tina's runs only about $5.00
Per person to or from the airport ferry.  Airport Ferry is included
with tickets..

>and the Motu and between the Motu and other sites?  Is it by personal
>arrangment with people with boats or is there a more formal water taxi
>service?  How much advance planning does it take to get from the Motu to
>somewhere else?
---Each day, an opportunity to go into town is easy, their boat
can hold over 20 people.  Appx $5/pp, unless it is just one or two folks.
Essence (GAS) is extremely expensive, so folks should just organize
early in the day, if not the day before.  Also, someone will likely be making
store runs and you might have them pick up some stuff for you.
Also keep in mind how to
get around after dark?

>Thanks very much.   Janet & Rod.
